Chinquapin is an old-time tune I learned from the late Carrol Best, who was a North Carolina banjo player I met and played with at the Tennessee Banjo Institute, Lebanon, Tenn, in 1992. It demonstrates his "fiddle tune" style. Click on the link to view the tablature file. Cherokee Shuffle is a great old-time fiddle tune which Bob has transcribed in 5-string banjo tablature. It is an intermediate level piece, and most banjo players will have no trouble picking up on it. It is a well-known tune among fiddlers, as well as other instrument players, so there are many people out there to jam on this tune with. Have fun!
