LONESOME WHEELS
The highway is lonely tonight, not a car within sight,
Not a headlight to blind me.
Alone, driving on to the dawn, destination unknown,
with a heartache inside me that cries
As these lonesome wheels whine, chasing thoughts through my mind,
watching endless white lines
fly by, riding on through the night. Every mile that I ride
leaves a memory behind.
To go to the end of the road, to a place where I know
memories never can find me.
To seek all the things I can see, things that never can be,
leave the teardrops behind.

SIDETRACKS
Well I never know which way you’re gonna go.
I just follow you around like some old lonesome hound dog
walkin’ down the street, because you look so sweet.
Will you love me back, or take me down some sidetrack?
Got eyes just for you, I’m a dog of love it’s true.
Please won’t you take me home, and claim me for your very own?
Because I love you so, just wanted you to know.
Will you love me back, or take me down some sidetrack?

BANJOY
When pain and sadness fill my soul and back me to the wall,
When darkness takes its toll and tears of sorrow start to fall,
You’ve always been right there to show me just how much you care.
Just like a friend so rare, you’re always with me everywhere.
Oh love, you give me happiness; love, you give me joy.
You give me peace of mind to satisfy this lonely boy.
Oh you were born of pain in dark and starving jungle land
To keep away the rain and light the stormy nights of man.
Your eyes have dripped with tears for all the slaves who brought you here
To lonely lives of fear, you gave them joy, you gave them cheer.
When disbelievers never feel the spirit of your song,
And disapprovers never see the color of a sound,
I take you in my arms to shield you from the raging storm
And touch your lovely form, my weary lonesome soul to warm.

THE LITTLE LANTERN HANGIN’ ON A NAIL
Got a little bitty house in the middle of the woods
in a hollow down a little bitty trail.
Got a curtain on the door and a rug on the floor,
and a little lantern hangin’ on a nail.
Go to meeting once a week in the town of Cripple Creek.
On the way I seelittle Abigail.
Buy some bacon and some beans and a jug of kerosene
for my little lantern hangin’ on a nail.

RENT PLUS UTILITIES
Well it’s time to pay the rent once more.
Much more than I can afford.
Off to work now I must head.
Poor old landlord needs that bread.
Sign my name right to the lease.
Pay rent plus utilities.
Month by month my rent gets paid.
Poor old landlord needs my aid.
Got to have that that money bad,
cause when it’s late, well he sure gets mad.
Sign my name right to the lease.
Pay rent plus utilities.
Well it’s time to pay that monthly fee.
Pay on time or hit the street.
Landlord’s countin’ every dime.
Got to have that cash on time.
Sign my name right to the lease.
Pay rent plus utilities.
Pay and pay and pay again.
Pay until it hurts, my friend.
Pay and pay and pay and pay and
pay and pay till the lord knows when.
Sign my name right to the lease.
Pay rent plus utilities.
Well now you know just where I stand.
Each month I lend a helping hand.
Off to work now I must go.
Time to pay the rent once more.
Sign my name right to the lease.
Pay rent plus utilities.

LAP DOG
Well he’s a lap dog, he jumps when she calls.
Yeah he’s a lap dog. He never worries at all,
’cause he’s a show dog-don’t have to beg for no bone.
Yeah he’s a lap dog.
Well he’s a number one prize, got intelligent eyes.
His coat is soft and glossy and he looks so wise.
He’s better than the average dog on the street.
He never gets dirty and he’s always so neat.
Well he’s never been kicked, he’s never been slapped.
He never tips a garbage can to fight for a scrap.
He’s never been whipped, he’s never been beat.
He never has to claw and scratch to get a bite to eat.

BRAND NEW DAY
I want to go to a land where joy shall fill my soul.
I want to live in eternal peace forevermore.
I want to stay with my savior, in His holy grace.
I’m on my way to a brand new day.
I’m on my way to a brand new day,
to a place where joy shall fill my soul, forever to stay.
I’m on my way to a brand new day,
to a place where the angels beckon me home on the judgement day.
I want to be with my loved ones, friends and family.
I want to see the light of God’s love shining down on me.
I want to stay with my savior, in His holy grace.
I’m on my way to a brand new day.
